Flower in the Desert

Catholic Life Blooming in Unexpected Places

Itchy eyes. Cracked skin. Parched mouth. Dusty cars. Sandy floors. Dry earth. These are the things that usually come to mind when we think of the desert.

The Sahara doesn't bring to mind blooming flora or bountiful harvest...and yet, I've found that the most fruitful moments in life come out of the lonelinest, driest experiences.

My faith has shown me that God often whisks us off into the desert so we can be stripped down to nothing. The desert becomes a place of cleansing, a place of renewal, a place where we are adorned with treasures, with life. A flower in the desert.
