Spiritual Direction
In the fall of 2022, after a year of vocational discernment, I enrolled in the Spiritual Direction Certificate program at Divine Mercy University. After continued prayer, study, and the completion of practicum hours under the faculty of Divine Mercy University, I completed the program in October 2024.
What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is the art of accompanying an individual in his or her faith journey. The ministry is one rooted in Jesus' relationship with his own disciples who grew in faith and trust in Him as they learned from him during His public ministry. The example of spiritual direction is also seen in Jesus' encounter with two disciples on their way to Emmaus. In this passage, Jesus engages in a conversation and their eyes are opened, leading them to say, "Were not our hearts burning within us?" (Luke 24:32).
I view spiritual direction not as telling directees what God desires for them but in pointing them towards God's Presence in their lives. It is a moment similar to that of Moses' experience of the burning bush where God instructs him, "Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." (Ex 3:5). I view my time with directees as "holy ground" where I aim to remove my own commentary and instead guide the directee to the Holy Spirit's inspirations.
Accompanying women in spiritual direction has been a great blessing as I get to witness God working in the holy ground of people's souls. I currently receive only women ages 20 and up. You can schedule an appointment with me via Calendly or complete the form below for more information.
